Iron Horse Campground sits right on HWY 79 in Sturgis, South Dakota, about 4½ miles from Main Street. We're across from the Buffalo Chip and Rock N the Rally, between the drag strip and Bear Butte, and just up the road from Full Throttle and Broken Spoke Saloon. In short, we're close to almost everything you came to the rally for, but far enough from Main Street to get a good night's sleep.

How far are you from Main Street in Sturgis?

We're 4½ miles from downtown Sturgis and famed Main Street. That's close enough to ride in whenever you want, but not so close that the noise follows you back to camp at night.

If you'd rather not ride in and find parking, DaBus shuttle service runs from the campground to downtown. You park the bike, hop on, and let someone else handle the traffic. It's an easy way to enjoy Main Street and still get home safe.

We landed on this distance on purpose. During rally week, being right in the middle of the action sounds nice until it's 2 a.m. and you're trying to sleep. Out here on HWY 79, you get the best of both.

What venues and landmarks are near the campground?

A lot of what makes the Sturgis Rally famous is within a short ride of our front gate.

– **Buffalo Chip** and **Rock N the Rally** are right across the road, so you can catch the big concerts without a long haul.
– **Full Throttle Saloon** is nearby, one of the best-known stops of the whole week.
– **Broken Spoke Saloon** is close too, if you want to make the rounds.
– The **drag strip** sits on one side of us, so you're near the racing action.

Being this centered means less time on the road getting places and more time actually enjoying them. When you've had your fill for the night, you're only a few minutes from your cabin, RV, or tent.

What's around besides the rally venues?

The rally is the main draw, but the Black Hills give you plenty to see when you want a change of pace.

**Bear Butte** is right near us. It's a sacred site and a state park, with trails and long views out over the plains. Even if you only go for the morning ride out and back, it's worth doing.

From here you're also set up well for the wider Black Hills. Places like the Needles Highway, Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, and Spearfish Canyon are all within reach for a day trip. A lot of folks spend a few days at the rally venues and then take a quiet ride through the hills to round out the week.

So while our address is HWY 79 in Sturgis, our location really puts you at the door of two things at once: the loud, busy heart of the rally, and the wide-open country that makes people fall in love with this part of South Dakota.

We've been at this spot since 1998, built specifically for the rally, and the location is a big part of why folks keep coming back. Full hookups, tent sites, cabins, live music, cold beer, hot showers, and the shuttle are all here waiting.
